Tachlis is Hebrew and Yiddish for something that is practical and down to earth. The Tachlist is a network of people who'll help out at a Kol Zimrah service in small yet indispensible ways -- for example, greet newcomers, set up chairs, help people follow the service, or stay to clean up. Once you join the Tachlist, an organizer will contact you in advance of a service when your help might be needed.
